St. Hildegard's Music

Notes (neume) of Hildegard's composition Columba Aspexit on St. Maximinus

Gregorian chants and sacred music elevate our souls to God and are the ideal kind of music to help us recover from stress and restore our inner peace. The well-known exorcist, Fr. Chad Ripperger, says that Gregorian music is composed in perfect order, that it strengthens our will, and that the devil cannot stand it. All the more reason to listen to it!

Today, music therapy is becoming more and more popular, although it has actually been used since biblical times. For example, David calmed King Saul by playing the harp (1 Sam 16:23). Scientific research confirms that music and harmony can influence the prevention and healing of illness.

According to St. Hildegard, music is
the highest form of praise, united with the choirs of angels. She also says that in music, God left us a memory of the lost paradise.
